People sometimes wonder what President's Day is. Presidents day is a holiday in which it originated after the works of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and other presidents. In other words, the holiday's purpose is to recognize the works of these former presidents. Presidents' day also honors the birthday of George Washington. The holiday is celebrated in the month of February. Presidents' day doesn't really have a specific date like other holidays. However, Presidents' day is always celebrated on a Monday. The holiday's origin goes back to 1879, when congress decided to implement the holiday. The first Presidents' day was actually celebrated on Washington's actual birthday. However, since 1971, the dates varied. Over the years, more rules have been implemented relating to the holiday. Annually, students don't come to school on a Presidents' day. Post offices services aren't available on that day. Certain businesses aren't at service as well. Personally it is a great day for a president like George Washington or Abraham Lincoln to get recognition. I feel like ever since presidents' day became a holiday, congress expanded Washington's and Lincoln's legacy.
