Class Evaluation

  1. I liked this class so much. It was my favorite class, and I always looked forward to the student success statements. The reason I liked the student success statements the most is because it relates to real life situations and experiences that even I can relate. When Mr. Haymore told us to right 10, I laughed inside and went beyond that. I just truly like writing so much, and I am going to miss sitting here.
  2. The thing I really didn’t liked about this class, was the fact that we really couldn’t share what we wrote about in our student success statement. I felt like we should have shared what we wrote, and what we believed in.
  3. To improve this class I'd suggest to make people share out, because it gets those shy ones to talk more. Another thing to improve the class is to add some student success statements from maybe more female figures. Overall, everything is fair enough. Nothing really has to change except, maybe letting people talk out.
  4. The highlights of this class was definitely when we were researching about a career. This one career in particular made me realized what I want to do and that would be a cardiologist. I truly felt, that this is what I want to do, and I will continue pursuing that. Furthermore, another highlight would be accomplishing and writing victories on my goals journal. I take it serious now, and I shall write even by 2020.
  5. I personally felt, I did my best in this class in general. I used my time wisely, and I wrote the best I could in the student success statement. I payed attention to the examples of the videos you played us. Other people might have laughed at the situation, but I put myself in the person's shoe. On the goals journal I tumbled, between April, but I realized it was just as vital as anything else. Overall I did well in this class, and I respected my classmates.
  6. Yes I am reading my goals journal daily. I have been and I realized how it can open doors. I never feel bored because this has me covered up with things to do and take care of. So yes, I will continue to do so, even up to my college years.
  7. I have been committed to being a CTR person in the first semester. I will continue to pass it on to my friends, families, and strangers. I have made a numerous amounts of CTR experiences, and I am looking forward to make some good this summer.
  8. What I learned in this class was a variety of lectures and importance to life. I learned the true meaning of life, and what's right and wrong.
  9. What I will remember most about this class is Mr. Haymore's enthusiasm to teach the class. I will always remember the kind voice he has, and that sunny bright smile. You truly are a great teacher, and I mean it from the bottom of my heart. Thank you.
“You will go far with CTR.”
~Mr .Haymore

This speaks the truth and the reality of life. It is the ultimate choice we can make in our entire life. Decisions determine destiny, if the person made a right choice. Choosing the right, will always keep a person away from danger. Nothing wrong will happen, and a person will feel peace within themselves. Like Mr. Haymore said, choosing the right will get a person into higher state. Personally, I live through these three words every single day, and I will continue doing that. Choosing the right will give a person a true identity, a true identity in which people will admire. Always follow what the little angle on your shoulder says. We all have that little tempting devil in our shoulder, but we must be strong to resist. By experience, I’ve known people or heard of people who messed up their lives. Some messed up due to the use of drugs, or having the worst friends. It is unfortunate, because even my classmates haven’t open their eyes. I know classmates that due drugs or are involved with gang influences. It is quite sad, because if they keep it up, they will regret the opportunity they had here. They don’t go anywhere else but misery. I thank Mr. Haymore very much for these three words you given. I also thank my mother for not letting me out in the streets giving me a book to read. That is wear all the negativity begins. With hope, faith, and these three words, (choose the right), a person will truly go far, and that’s a fact.

Melissa and Benjamin
Melissa was a one of a kind waitress. She cared a lot about her studies, and she was so kind to her customers. Melissa had a goal to be a registered nurse. However she struggled her way to get there. She had to work at the Peach Tree Restaurant to help her financially with her studies. She would be a nice and welcoming waitress. She had many customers, yet she never was rude towards them. She never responded aggressively towards her clients. Instead Melissa was a kind hearted woman towards everyone in the restaurant. Her usual client Benjamin is also a person with good character. He would know her since he always liked that place. Melissa noticed something odd, and so she rather chose the right. Benjamin took note at her actions and was astonished and full of glee because of her actions. As a result, Benjamin decides to help her with her financial needs. 2 years later, she is a nurse waiting to be a doctor soon.
“ If there is beauty in character, there will be harmony in the home. If there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation. If there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world. Conclusion: If there is beauty in character, there will be peace in the world.”
Chinese Proverb

This statement itself is well said and scholarly written. It is true that beauty in character does set out a structure. This structure is unbreakable, and can resist. The structure that comes from character’s beauty, sets out an example of what’s right. The structure brings peace and security. Having good character brings out peace in your home and your surroundings. When people are like this, society becomes peaceful. The whole world becomes peaceful because of this beautiful character. Having a beautiful character means that you are respectful to anyone no matter what they are, their belief, or their preference in something. The reason why sometimes peace is hard to find is because people have a revolting character. This hideous character brings out racism, discouragement, and destruction. There is no structure in that, since it basically collapsed. People don’t respect others. A beautiful character what be accepting of one’s race, sexuality, belief and gender. When that happens peace is shared among others. A peaceful environment is nice too. People must also respect the environment, and take care of it. Plants and innocent animals are at peace when that happens. A beautiful character shall always bring peace at home, society, and this world. A beautiful character can start at home by helping a beloved friend, family, or neighbor. Starting out as a beautiful character can also begin by giving to the need. I myself can say I’ve been a good character, since I helped a struggling student, and I have bought cookies for a soldier during Memorial Day. It truly felt peaceful and wonderful as a result. Someone who is unaccepting, disrespectful, and rude doesn’t bring peace into society. They actually bring in negativity, chaos, disturbance and disaster. Misery are upon those with ugly characters. Only peace and beauty are within beautiful character.
Social Media Risks Among Young Users

A lot of young teenagers and preteens have been reported to have had more depression than an actual adult. Back then teens weren’t as depressed not like today’s youth. The reason for this is because many access to social media has increased. Today some teens aren’t outgoing, and some spend excessive time on a screen for more than 2 hours. This isolates a teen, and puts them into social isolation. We came to a point in which technology is taking more control of us. With the rise of Snapchat and Instagram, more teens prefer to waste time, than to actually be productive. Surveys have proven that 80% of social media users are actually young teens. Technology has taken a bad turn for certain people. Social media can be quite powerful, and some people become addicted. Sometimes this addiction can be negative, since all they care about is this cyber world. As a result they are rather isolated. In a social media world, no eye contact is expressed, no actual conversation happens, and it is not the same interaction. Depression happens to these addicted users. Not only has social media affect a person negative but physically too. Teens tend to sleep less because of this result. They rather just keep checking on social media, than to rest their eyes. This year many people saw in increase of glasses, because phones have damaged eyesight due to the bright screens. People damage their neck as well, due to looking down on their phone. What’s being done is that people are spreading awareness, and are trying to get people off their phones.
Personally, its quite sad that today’s youth would rather have a phone that entertains them than actually going outside and be adventurous. Social media apparently is what makes them live. Social media is truly disgusting, because they spread the wrong messages to the youth. People do compare themselves to others and that’s what brings them down. Everyone is amazing, and social media shouldn’t define anyone.

Winner or Losers

Life is so competitive. Every person wants to be a winner, everyone wants to be a champion. However, not all of us win the big prize. Malik Stewart lost to his opponent, Mitchell. He’s been a good character before and after the wrestling match. I admire him for having that heart of gold, because not everyone will act this way. The fact that he lost made him prouder of what he gain out of. He knows deep in his heart he came so far fairly. Some people who would have lost will storm out and cuss. Others would have cheated, but Malik is such a fair person. He congratulated his opponent and it was a day to remember. No one is a loser if they played the game fairly. He simply has been a winner all along. In the other hand we have Roman Chapa. Roman Chapa won the horse race unfairly. I truly feel disgusted based off his actions. It truly is horrible to abuse an innocent creature just to win. Electrocuting a horse wasn’t necessary. Horses are animals that feel pain and have feelings. This shows animal cruelty as well. Either way if he wasn’t photographed, he’ll live with that prize knowing he cheated. If that photo didn't existed he would have been haunted by guilt. Now that is a true loser for taking the shortcut. A person should not cheat to win something. He should have crossed the line at fifth place because what really matters is the amount of time and effort put into something. Competitions should always be played fair.
‘’I would prefer even to fail with honor than win by cheating.” Sophocles

Sophocles has said something so splendid. This statement should prove that people should do any situation fairly. In life there is no shortcut, and if there is it is rather a dead end. When a person cheats, they automatically prove they are a loser. Cheaters tend to feel insecure or self-conscious about what they do. Cheaters as a result stop trying, and focus on ways to get to the top without having difficulty or struggles. This does not show good character as a result. These cheaters have passed a test unfairly, by looking up or sneaking in the answers. These cheaters win medals and awards for boosting their ability. It certainly isn’t fair for those who are trying because those are the winners putting the effort in. Cheaters don’t bother putting in effort, because they are either lazy or they can figure things out. It wouldn’t feel so great knowing you cheated and that’s how you got this award. It wouldn’t feel so great if an A is inputted into the computer knowing, you found answers online. Guilt kicks in, and some people just lose it. However, not all people are like that. They get away with it, but when the day Jesus comes they shall be judged and face consequences. Cheating is such a nasty sin and no one should do it. Failing with honor shows true character, since they show pride. Coming so far, or doing as much as possible shows good character. People that don’t take shortcuts, will always feel proud on the effort they put, and how far they had come.
